Round one of AVAT (the entries) has come to an end for a few days now. To be honest I didn't even expect to make it through round 1. I had a really cool idea in the beginning. Spent about two days on the lineart alone.. But when it came to colouring I kind of lost heart. I wanted it too realistic (not my forte), it had a pretty intense background (something I'm not good at either) and I gave up. For over a week I didn't really work on anything.. But the deadline came closer and in a last energyfit I pooped out Soft Steel. Pooped it out in a good way of course. I'm pretty happy with it, although in hindsight I would have done some minor changes if I wasn't so eager to put it up online.
I didn't notice the similarities with the Iron Giant untill afterward. Oh well.
Anyway, it was rather surprising to find myself in 4th place. I'm curious about the next theme, and even more curious if I'll make it through that one too.
